W.H.O Director General - Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

This man run the agency responsible for International Public Health.  Donald Trump believes the Organisation is controlled by China. Do you?

The Person: Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

Tedros An Ethiopian Biologist and public health researcher. He has been the Director General (DG) of the World Health Organisation (W.H.O) since 2017. He was endorsed by the African Union. He has been Minister of Health and minister of Foreign Affairs in Ethiopia. He was elected as DG of the WHO in May 2017 and took office in July 2017, becoming the first DG of the organisation who was not a Doctor. 

The Issue:

Tedros met with Chinese leaders about COVID-19 in January 2020 and the WHO stated the Corona Virus did not yet rise to the level of an international emergency. He stated in there was no need limit trade or travel with China. In February he stated governments no "unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade." By march he was calling it "the defining global health crisis of our time". 

Some Government officials and Public health experts accused Tedros of failing to declare a pandemic soon enough, and having too close a relationship with the government of China.  President Trump threatened to cut US funding to the WHO. He accused WHO of being under China's control in the wake of the corona virus pandemic. 

Tedros stated his life has been threatened, Tedros attributed these to Taiwan, an allegation officials from Taiwan have denied and requested an apology.  

The Decision:

Did Tedros act slow? Is he too close to China? Are the claims false? Is it his fault? Is he Fit to lead? So many questions.  He is still in his role (as of August 2020) , but what do YOU think, if you were all powerful and has the ultimate say, which of the following would you choose? would you... 

HIRE - Allow him keep his job?

SUSPEND - Have him take a break for some time?

FIRE - Remove him and find someone else?
